LIVE-ELECTRONIC

In their mysterious late-night alter ego, Buddy System melds the driving beats of electronic dance music with live fiddle tunes and improvisation in a groundbreaking format. Noah VanNorstrand (fiddle, vocals) and Julie Vallimont (computer, piano, synths) create live sonic landscapes that’ll put you in a dance trance.  Julie is a pioneer of this live form of live-electronic contra, where she fuses musical worlds and strives to create a transcendent dance experience.

The Buddy System electronic sound is a mix of fiddle tunes, catchy riffs, trancy synths, and vocal lines with electronic beats and bass.  The energy ranges from beautiful and sublime, to driving and edgy, to groovy and funky.  They perform mostly original material, which Julie sequences in the computer with MIDI and audio loops and samples, and then combines in real time during their live performance.   It’s live, interactive, and different every time.
